The Cameras that won the Oscars

As the Oscars pass and awards are handed out, people all around the world will see how their favorite movie held up,what movie they need to see next, how their favorite actor or actress did, but who thinks about the Camera or even cinematographers for that matter. Filming in cinema can be very difficult and very competitive. I wanted to find out what cameras are being used for this films that are being nominated for Oscars. I found an article on just that. Below is the link to the article if you want to check it out.

As I was scrolling through the article one thing caught my eye, the cameras being used are almost all the same brand. Movies like "Hidden Figures", "Hell or Hight Water", "Hacksaw Ridge", "Manchester By the Sea","Lion" and "Arrival" all used a variation of the ARRI ALEXA, and ARRI FLEX. Hacksaw Ridge actually used three different cameras, but this seems to be the camera of choice for the time being. This camera is an all around camera that is able to produce high quality an any situation and has a built in roll and tilt sensor. Along with this it has multiple mounting brackets and and a silent fan. Along with things like 3D capabilities and real time wired and wireless remote control of lens and camera. It's no wonder this is such a popular camera right now. With a price tag of $65,000 it's no wonder the quality is so good. I hope one day to be able to get my hands on one of these but in the mean time this is as close as I'll be getting. Congrats to all the Movies, Actors and Crews that got nominated for an Oscar, but remeber behind every great film is probably one hefty piece of gear.
